چکیده
A new approach for measuring flow stresses near a spinning friction stir welding (FSW) tool is evaluated on AA 6061-T6 plate. The test consists of plunging cylindrical with flat face into the plate at different rotational speeds, using variety constant vertical loads. viscosity-based model shear layer created under employed to estimate local stresses. measured by this exhibited an inverse relationship temperature and positive dependence pressure imposed flat-faced tool. Compared hot compression torsion results, estimated stress levels in high-pressure were lower 20–68 %, similar temperatures strain rates, owing grain refinement induced continuous dynamic recrystallization. This could be used characterize material behavior rapidly FSW tool, leading improved process predictions.

Residual Stresses in Friction Stir Welding
Friction stir welding is an innovative joining process being developed for use in aerospace manufacturing. Like most welding processes there exist problems with post-weld residual stresses and subsequent geometrical distortion. The residual stress-state of a welded component can be modified using suitably applied mechanical tensioning and thus distortion can be reduced or eliminated. In the pre...

متن کاملOptimization of Friction Stir Welding Tool Advance Speed via Monte-Carlo Simulation of the Friction Stir Welding Process
Recognition of the friction stir welding process is growing in the aeronautical and aero-space industries. To make the process more available to the structural fabrication industry (buildings and bridges), being able to model the process to determine the highest speed of advance possible that will not cause unwanted welding defects is desirable. A numerical solution to the transient two-dimensi...
متن کاملFriction stir welding and processing
Friction stir welding (FSW) is a relatively new solid-state joining process. This joining technique is energy efficient, environment friendly, and versatile. In particular, it can be used to join high-strength aerospace aluminum alloys and other metallic alloys that are hard to weld by conventional fusion welding. FSW is considered to be the most significant development in metal joining in a de...
متن کاملReview: friction stir welding tools
Friction stir welding (FSW) is a widely used solid state joining process for soft materials such as aluminium alloys because it avoids many of the common problems of fusion welding. Commercial feasibility of the FSW process for harder alloys such as steels and titanium alloys awaits the development of cost effective and durable tools which lead to structurally sound welds consistently. Material...
